Finalizing Tragedy and Understanding it

This weekend I have had the chance to watch two movies. Brilliant Minds and The Social Network. As I was watching them hubris and our tragedy project for some reason came to my mind. I began to analyze the movie plot and came to the conclusion that it was a perfect example of hubris. A character starts off middle class but for some reason begins to be an important figure but because of hubris they fall. This project helps understand tragedy and truly learn and analyze stuff in our daily lives.

  1. That's a really good point. I saw The Social Network about a week ago and I didn't make that connection, but now that you bring it up, it makes total sense. His ego got to him resulting in the loss of his best friend, all because he was too proud to share. I don't think The Social Network is not a tragedy, but I think that Mark's decisions were tragic.

  2. Actually, this is a very well thought out point. Having also seen Social Network, I completely agree with your points. I like this idea of hubris being portrayed in current films. Now that I am thinking about it, I also saw the same problem in the film we have been working to reproduce: Six Shooter. The character known as "the kid" is kind of arrogant and seems to also be a good example of hubris.
