Tragedy

As I continued researching about tragedy I decided that my form of portraying tragedy would be through Images. I also believe that videos or movies are a very strong way of portraying tragedy. For example a really good scene of a movie that portrays tragedy is the scene of Avatar the movie. The scene where their tree it being burnt down by the humans and that the avatars begin to panic and cry. Although videos are a great way to portray tragedy I chose images because you get to figure out what was happening when the picture was taken.

Oedipus The King

This past school week was short, because we had a field trip on Tuesday and on Friday we had college day. We got to finish the exciting story of Oedipus and watched the tragic ending in class. Oedipus is a man who escapes from his prophecies but by doing that he fulfills them. In our english class this week we were assigned to summarize the While play into two sentences I personally wasn't able to because i explain everything in detail. I believe the ending was very disturbing and scary to see the video. I do not see the point of why Oedipus would take his eyes out, why didn't he just kill himself like his mother/wife?. Overall I enjoyed reading the story it really captured my attention while reading it.
I am going to buy my next book read this weekend I am excited and want to start reading it.
I am also looking forward to the next project that Stephanie told us about yesterday and I believe I am going to make a piece of music or take a picture. I am a little confused about the project but will ask questions on Monday. I am looking forward to the following weeks.

The Story of Oedipus

I am enjoying the reading of Oedipus. It is a great story that is interesting and makes you want to know more. I enjoyed watching the clip of the play today in class because i can feel it more. It is different to read it than to watch it because sometimes when I am reading I don't understand it but if I see the face expressions and listen to it it is easier to understand it and analyze it. It is also helpful to read it out loud in class with people reading each characters lines. I am looking forward to see what will happen next.

My next reading is Siddhartha, i still haven't bought the book but i will do it this weekend. I enjoyed reading the Alchemist and i will definably recommend it and possibly read is again.

First Week of October

For my book club reading, my group and I decided to read three books. Them being "The Alchemist" By: Paulo Coelho, "One hundred Years of Solitude" By: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, "Siddhartha" By: Hermann Hesse. I have been reading The Alchemist, I like the book so far I am almost done. I like the way that Coelho writes and how he invites the reader to imagine everything with many details. I like the story that he is telling because it engages you and makes you want to keep reading I reading every page. I believe that My group and I did the right thing by choosing "The Alchemist" because he is a good example to compare to the heroes journey.
